Fall Guys—it is the internet's newest obsession; with everyone from the Cyberpunk devs to Twitch’s top streamers… seemingly, everyone is playing this game right now. And even I was late to the party.

What exactly is Fall Guys?

Fall Guys is the title of a wacky, 3D platformer game built around completing mini-games or racing to a finish-line against your opponents. What’s more, it is a battle-royal game on par with the more popular game titles Fortnite and PUBG. Gamers hop into matches with fifty-nine other people and try to get through as many rounds as it takes to be the last ‘Guy’ standing. Very frequently, you will be wiped out incredibly quickly, meaning you’re gonna be hopping into loads of different matches, each just as enjoyable.

How much is Fall Guys?

This game is not free-to-play, but that does not hinder its ability to be accessible. As of this article, it's on PC and PS4. But if you have PS Plus, you'll get Fall Guys for free right now. Even if you can't get this game for free, you can purchase it for only $19.99, and it is so worth it.

I know you just said it's worth it, but..is it?

Fuck yes. Although this game isn't meant to entertain you for hours of gameplay every night for months on end, it's just good, quality entertainment and unlike some other battle-royal games, Fall Guys is an actual joy to play. The progression is what makes this game worth it. Every match I'm hopping into, I'm only doing so I can win or level up my character to get new (and admittedly cute) outfits.

You get at least two of three things from every match: XP, tokens, and crowns. XP is used to level-up your character, bestowing you the standard items at standard levels that everyone obtains as they also level-up. Tokens are awarded to you depending on how far you will make it in your last match—the higher the number of rounds, the higher the number of tokens. These can be used to purchase many things in the store, and it allows you much more independence in how your ‘Guy’ looks (I just picked up a sweeet mallard outfit for my ‘Guy’). Crowns are presented to you once you win a match, which you are going to find to be fairly difficult. Crowns are also a currency, but they are only used to purchase the most epic of rarity when it comes to outfits, colors, and faces.

So, y’know, if you wanna be in the loop with what everyone is playing currently, hop on this train and actually enjoy yourself. This game keeps you engaged in good, clean fun that keeps you coming back without enraging you. Your $19.99 will not be wasted on this adorably unmatched battle-royal game.
